Knots
This is quite a strange one! I grabbed only a bar or two from a Slipknot (yeah, you read that right!) track, and built a fairly drastically different track around it. I think it worked out quite well, although the production leaves an awful lot to be desired, with a very thin sound in places. The only question is, would Slipknot approve!?

Faster, Harder, More F**ked Up
Had a go at a bit of drum 'n bass, and this is part of the result! As with most of the stuff in this section, it was performed live in the studio.
The more notable part for me is the drum programming, since I spent quite a while getting a meaty DnB sound without getting cluttered or muddy.

Tribulations
This one is the very famous LCD Soundsystem track from their self-titled album, and is a relatively straight cover. The only reason I include it here is that it demonstrates how my live setup works quite well. Since the chordal structure of the track remains the same from verse to chorus, I can play each part completely live as a 4-bar overdub, overlaying and subtracting them as I go along in FL Studio.

Ataraxia
A little more guitars than usual for a Glitcher track, but I reckon it still works.

Leave Home
This one is a fairly straightforward breakbeat track. I actually used a part of this song in a short film by David Looney called 'Faith in the Eight', along with another far quieter blues piece.
There's also a live recording of this track available above, performed at the Boom Boom Room in February.

Gameboy Choonz
More oddness! I really enjoy a lot of music written for the limited little synthesizer of the old Gameboys, so I sometimes scribble out a tune or two. I'm not going to pretend they're in any way decent music, they're just a bit of a laugh really.

In contrast to the older 'Thirteen' recordings, Glitcher is very much centred around live electronics rather than conventional instrumentation. The nature of my current studio setup allows the flexibility to perform relatively complex electronic pieces live, mainly thanks to the new capabilities of sequencers such as Ableton Live and FL Studio.
In this section, you can download some live Glitcher tracks, and read a little bit about how they were performed.

Everything Hurts - Download
This track began with a reconstruction of the driving bassline from Leftfield's track 'Phat Planet'. This four bar pattern is the basis for the first minute or so of the track, while I trigger drum patterns and play alternative synth lines. I tend to avoid directly sampling vocal extracts and the like, so I just use a cheesy synthesized robot insert instead of the original Leftfield sample. The rest of the track is a sequence of big-as-possible synth lines, alternating between various drum patterns. There are also a few synth lines played from Futureshock's track "Statikman".
Instruments used
- Roland TB 303
- Wasp VST Synth
- MiniMoog
- Vocoder
- Drum hits from various sources, sequenced and triggered in FL Studio
- A huge amount of VST effects, most significant of which being Predatohm

The extend to which I can perform any track live is determined by the possibilities of FL Studio. For pitched instrumental parts, I will almost always play a full cycle of 8 bars by hand, then allow the sequencer to repeat this cycle. Regarding drum patterns, my humble keyboard serves as a trigger-board for any drum sections in a song.
Anyway, here's another song:

Smack My Boy Girl Up - Download
Wahey!! Two classic dance tunes in one!! I have to confess, I sampled the vocal line and a bass loop from The Prodigy's track 'Smack my bitch up'. Aside from that, it's all live, so don't get upset! Similarly to the Leftfield track above, the repeating bassline allowed me to trigger all the drum patterns, and play all those great dirty synth lines.
As I'm sure you've noticed, the song gradually introduces elements from The Chemical Brother's 'Hey Boy, Hey Girl'.
Instruments used
- Sampletank (for bass and some percussion)
- Wasp VST Synth
- Phatmatik VST Slicer
- FM7 Synth
- Fender Electric guitar, chopped to hell with a Boss DD-5
- Roland TB 303, Roland TR-909
- Drum hits from various sources, sequenced and triggered in FL Studio
